Bovey Down

Timber harvesting work will be taking place within Bovey Dwon Plantation during the coming autumn/winter. Access restrictions will apply and permissive paths will be closed during the works. For your safety please follow safety signs and directions. Keep clear of forestry machines and timber stacks.

The Estate is harvesting crops of Japanese larch ahead of the spread of Phytophthora ramorum into East Devon.This disease is a fungus like organism and has devastated larch forests in Cornwall, west and south Devon and Somerset. It was imported into the UK on horticultural planting stock and has now been found in East Devon.

Harvesting of the Larch in the area shown red on the plan was due to take place over the next ten years, however, due to the above threat this has been brought forward into one operation this autumn.

All felled areas will be replanted.
