Devon Life Food and Drink Awards
In 2010 Tom Garner, Estate Ranger for Clinton Devon Estates won the title for Best Entrepreneur at the Devon Life Food and Drink Awards for creating a successful local market for the high quality wild venison from Estate land in East Devon. He was also a runner up in the category for Best Butcher/Meat Producer of the Year. In the 2011 Awards, Tom was runner up in the hotly contested category of Devon Food Hero.
Former Royal Marine Tom trained himself in deer management and took on responsibility for the 15,000 acre East Devon Estate four years ago. After successfully completing a butchery course, Tom began producing packs of roasting joints, fillet steak and casserole meat, as well as home made sausages and burgers, to sell at Budleigh Salterton Farmers Market and the local community shop in East Budleigh.
Clinton wild venison from East Devon is now produced, butchered and sold within five miles.
